Paris August 31 The Allied reparations commission accepted the Belgian compromise on the German moratorium proposal as a solution to the present crisis. A formal vote will be taken before adjournment. The French member M Dubois’s stance was unclear after the afternoon session.
Governor Hardwick spoke at the Georgia Swine Growers convention in Carrollton, urging a state audit and budget system to curb graft and ensure transparent tax spending. Atlanta August 31 By mutual agreement the first legal battle in the Candler Byfield counter suits scheduled for Friday was postponed for several months. The dispute centers on Walter T Candler seeking to cancel a 20500 note held by Clyde K Byfeld who alleges blackmail related to an incident with Mrs Byfield in her stateroom aboard the ocean liner Berengaria while en route to France. Mrs Byfield counters with a 100000 damages suit for injuries in her state room.
A first co operative hog sale will be staged at Pelham Friday afternoon with several cars expected to be offered and buyers from a wide region anticipated. W W Webb of the state bureau of markets will conduct the sale. Camilla has held multiple sales this week and Pelham stockyards note a summer hog influx far surpassing last year.

Salisbury North Carolina. National guard units stationed during the shopmen's strike began withdrawing today following Col. Scott's announcement last night. Local authorities reported the drawdown as orderly with no incidents. The withdrawal marks a return toward normalcy after increased security duties in the city.

The average death rate was 13.7 versus 12.6, with the District of Columbia at 17.6 the highest and Wyoming at 9.6 the lowest. These early results suggest 1922 will exceed the 1921 rate of 11.7.
