Brother of Ty Cobb Accidentally Shot in Augusta

Cobb, 38, brother of Ty Cobb, is hospitalized in Augusta after a revolver discharged while he cleaned it. Wounds to chest and left arm dressed. incident occurred as his wife had just cleaned the weapon for him. The accident led to his transfer to Augusta Hospital where treatment continued.

Police Assist Board in Industrial Survey in Savannah

The Savannah day patrol has been tasked by the Savannah Board of Trade to gather statistics for the business census and the forthcoming industrial and commercial directory known as the red book. Shorter College to Open September at Rome

Rome Ga August 25 Preparations for the opening of Shorter College on September 12 are nearly complete with about 270 students expected. Dr J D Brocker president reports renovated buildings and hastily prepared grounds. Freight Traffic Men Meet Soon in Augusta

The Southeastern Passenger association will hold its annual conference in December in Augusta. Spencer Hart, secretary of the Augusta Board of Commerce, announced the event. About thirty passenger agents are expected to attend, with W. H. Howard of Atlanta serving as chairman.

Atlanta Lawyers Conclude Heaping Grievance Probe

The grievance committee of the Atlanta Bar Association finished its probe into charges of unethical conduct against Judge G. H. Howard. Edgar Latham filed the charges. committee members included Robert P. Jones, Marion Smith, and John Sibley. A report will be submitted to the bar early next week. Wrong man lynched by mob near Jacksonville

Jacksonville August 25 The body of a Black farm hand riddled with bullets by a mob near Jacksonville last night has been identified as the man suspected of peeping into a young girl's bedroom Friday morning. Sheriff officials say the mob slew the wrong person and he could not have been at the crime scene.

First bale of cotton received at Ellaville

August 25 notes Schley county reports the first bale of cotton for 1887 was brought in Thursday by J. W. Hanner. The bale, ginned by Stevens ginnery, weighed 256 pounds and sold to Stevens Warehouse company for 25 cents a pound.

American Naptha Launch Fired on Near Gallipoli

A telegraph from Imbros reports a naptha launch flying the American flag carrying ten refugees was fired upon by Turkish soldiers at Gallipoli. One man was killed and a woman badly wounded. The attack occurred as the vessel neared Gallipoli, Athens reported on August 25.

South Georgia Public Utilities officials say power lines between Americus and Albany are being tampered with. A $25 reward was offered for arrests, while Supt.
