One Killed Two Hurt In Automobile Crash

A. P. reports E. J. Shaeffer of Akron was killed and his daughter Mrs Thomas A Knatt and son-in-law Thos A Knatt seriously hurt when their car overturned near Gary Indiana during a pleasure trip. Shaeffer was general manager of Seftfield Publishing and a longtime Midwestern publishing figure.

Seven Women Dead In Wawa Hotel Fire At Lake of Bays

Huntsville August 20. The bodies of seven women killed in the Wawa hotel fire at the Lake of Bays on Sunday have been recovered. Three other women believed inside the building are still missing and may have perished. Twenty others are injured, many seriously.

Norris Files Suit for 50000 Against Americus Attorney

M H Norris of LaGrange now residing in Columbus has filed a $50,000 suit in Sumter Superior Court against Mrs Mary P Fowler J L Botwick Mrs J L Botwick C F Fuller Mrs Janie Fuller and W T Lane alleging malicious prosecution and unwarranted imprisonment in October 1921. Norris claims such prosecution hindered his business for about twenty months and that lost time is worth several thousand dollars. Senator Brookhart sued over 30 cent libel claim

Des Moines August 20. Senator Brookhart of Iowa faces a libel suit by E T Meredith former secretary of agriculture who contends Brookhart’s charge that Meredith sat with Wall Street and helped cause the greatest panic in farm prices is untrue. The suit seeks 30 cents and an oath from Brookhart on the truth of his accusations. Meredith says the libel is only thirty cents in value due to its source.

Mobile Port Bill Before Ala Solons

Tom Murray and A I Kleckley, both residents of Macon county, were injured when their car overturned near Vineys branch three miles from Andersonville on the Dixie highway. The cause is unknown, both are expected to recover at Americus and Sumter county hospital. Kleckley had minor injuries while Murray suffered a fractured collarbone and several broken ribs on the left side.

Ship Brings 500 Tons Eggs to Savannah

Aboard the American steamer Hawaiian of the American-Hawaiian Line a cargo of 500 tons of eggs arrived in Savannah. The eggs were shipped from China to Portland Oregon and then reshipped to Georgia. The eggs are preserved in some manner by the Chinese and are used mainly by bakers and restaurateurs.
