On Friday a bridge worker named Mr. George West died in a rare accident on the S A M railroad bridge over the Chattahoochee. A three ton beam swung from a derrick as workers cleared the area and West stepped between cross ties, fell through a twelve inch gap, struck timber forty feet below, then plunged to a barge eighteen feet below, breaking bones and dying instantly. He left a wife and two children.
