Chicago August 15 The ruins of an ancient city of great size hitherto unknown have been uncovered in Magdalena province Colombia 40 miles from the Caribbean coast and 20 miles south of Santa Marta by the Field Museum of Natural History expedition of Chicago.
Waycross plant operates at peak season packing and shipping thirty thousand bushels of pineapple pears. Management faces unfilled orders due to lack of raw material. The plant employs two hundred seventy five pear workers under a busy, buzzing operation. Expected output ranges from twenty five thousand to forty thousand barrels of pears.

James Austin, a Black man, is jailed on a cow theft charge from his wife. Sheriff Harvey seized two quarts of liquor. the prisoner alleged another man sold the liquor, later found to be a preacher and innocent. The sheriff found a still in use at Tom Barnett’s Plains Road home, with Brantlett and Willie Shinnelte arrested for whisky peddling. Joseph Calhoun and Bob Wilkinson face whisky possession charges. Wilkinson provoked guards and was sent to the jail.
