Mann Bill Adds Three Cent Gas Tax in Georgia Senate

The Georgia senate passed a bill imposing a three cent tax on all gasoline sold in the state. Revenue will be divided among counties, the highway department, and the state treasury to pay discounted Western and Atlantic railroad notes. Governor Walker is expected to approve. Lee Watkins of Jackson was appointed special attorney to the Georgia Public Utilities Commission by Governor Walker.

Communists Hold Lübeck as Reichswehr Moves In

In Lübeck Germany Communists seize the city center after forcing the senate to retire. Reichwehr troops arrive to restore order but clashes continue with sustained street fighting and casualties. In Seitz Saxony fighting erupts as a large communist force storms the town hall. nine communists are dead and thirty wounded prisoners are taken amid widespread injuries.

Gary Ind August 13 The eight-hour day in United States Steel mills here became a reality with blast furnace workers the first affected. Open hearth steel workers will follow next Thursday August 16 under a new wage system reducing pay from 4 80 to 4 00 for eight hours.

Swimming expert at playground for life saving drills

T E Moore of the American Red Cross will give swimming and life saving demonstrations at Americas Playground pool today Tuesday and Wednesday.
