The 7 o clock departure from Americus and return from Montgomery at 7, with stops at Smithville Dawson Cuthbert Union Springs and Eufaula. Round trip tickets are $0.50 for the ride.

There should be an excess supply at a very low price with cold storage and a cash market. In Georgia and other states cities demand poultry and products. once Americus can claim to supply the cities with approved sanitary methods, buyers will come and a cash market will be provided.

First Bale of Cotton at Americus Ginned and Bought

Americus received its first bale of cotton for the 1923 24 season at the L G Council warehouse. Grown by C C Griffin of the Twenty eighth district, the bale weighed 841 pounds and was classed American middling. It was bought by George B Turpin Co at 32 cents per pound with a premium above the market quote of 23 cents for strict middling. The 1922 bale arrived about July 28 last year, indicating this year’s crop is over ten days later in Sumter county.

Jones Adair Hutchinson in 9 holes of 72 hole exhibit

Bobby Jones and Perry Adair were all square with Jock Hutchinson and Frank Godchaux after nine holes in Atlanta. Jones shot three under par for 32 while Adair posted 38 and Godchaux 86. Hutchinson had 34. A woman spectator was struck on the nose by a ball driven by Hutchinson at the second hole.

Painting Refused as Bond in Deportation Case

August 11. Umber to Vianelli, an Italian inmate at the federal penitentiary in Atlanta, produced an unfinished oil painting in his cell that drew attention.
