Mrs Talmage, wife of Dr. D D Talmage, died in a New York sanitarium after long nervous prostration following the Brooklyn tabernacle fire. She endured illness in Europe, Rome fever, and relapse at a Hampton estate, then was moved to Danville sanitarium where she passed away as the pastor returned from a lecturing tour. The Talmage family history includes a fire loss, a daughter Jessie who died young, and five later children from the second marriage to Susie Waitemore.
