Georgia Senate Passes Rail Surcharge Removal Bill

In Atlanta on August 8 the Georgia Senate approved without dissent a bill by Senator Grantham removing railway surcharges. The measure mirrors a House bill by Representative Bennett. Also approved without opposition were a Coastal District Highway association provision and a cooperative marketing contracts measure after a postponement vote. The session also saw a move to delay a recording bill for cooperative marketing contracts. The House later passed a separate bill to appropriate 550 000 to The State College of Agriculture for 1924 and 1925, despite strong opposition led by Representatives Stearn and New, earmarked for maintenance and extension work and to support county agricultural agents and demonstrators.
