Debs defiant on injunction amid miners strike news

Gold output from Klondike tops three million in gold

San Francisco reports the Klondike gold season yields up to three million dollars moved to U S mints and local mines. The chief mint clerk notes Alaska gold runs around 15 to 17 dollars per ounce with 700 to 900 fineness and warns of starvation risks as Dawson City rushes attract many prospectors.

Three Frozen to Death in Alaska Mine Trek

News from Wash Aug 6 reports three miners Charles A Blackstone George Botcher and J W Malinque died while trying to reach a copee in Alaska after 1896 gold rush hardships. Bodies of Blackstone and Botcher exhausted search parties but no trace found. Malinque died mid journey with weather and cold blamed.
