Buena Vista Man Dies At Home
J L Williams aged 47 died at 7 o clock Monday night at his Buena Vista residence after a two week illness. Funeral held today at 4 pm with many attending. Survived by widow Gussie Edge Williams, son Joseph Williams, daughter Virginia Williams, three sisters and three brothers plus a stepmother. Williams was a prominent planter stock dealer and community figure active in civic and religious life at the Methodist church. He had been injured in an automobile accident returning from Atlanta, later developing infection and blood poisoning. His death creates a notable vacancy in Buena Vista and statewide connections.

Glover shot to death by mob near Bibb county line
Macon August 1. Cockey Glover the man who murdered Deputy Sheriff Walter Byrd of this city was killed by a mob ten miles from the Bibb county line at 1 o clock today after a fierce struggle on a Central of Georgia train. He had been captured following a hand to hand fight with Chief J F Phelps of Griffin. Authorities say Byrd’s murder last Saturday night prompted the confrontation and mob action.
