W J Smith banker of Battle Creek Michigan urged less government meddling and warned that commissions throttle industry while praising practical leaders like Otto H Kahn and Charles Schwab. Revivalists 10 Arrive Monday for Macon revival

Universalists Hear Former Pastor at Local Church

Services Sunday at 11 AM and 7:30 PM at the Universalist church on Taylor street with Rev. Thomas Chapman of Kentucky delivering both sermons. Chapman is a former pastor of that church in Americus and has many local friends who plan to attend.

M Dowell Attends Conductors Meeting in Cleveland

J J McDowell departed for Cleveland Ohio to join the Grand Division of the O R C convention. He will visit Niagara Falls Canada and New York City to see a brother, then route home through Philadelphia Baltimore and Washington for sight-seeing and family visits.

Lions Club Talk Highlights Civic Unity And Entertainment

The Lions club event featured a keynote on united civic effort and collaboration with Kiwanis and Rotary leaders. Entertainment included a quartet, solo songs, and readings, with H. E. Allen presiding and guests applauding the program.

Harding Bans Children Crusade Delegation Visit

Washington April 29. The Childrens crusade group of wives and children of men in federal prisons for war law violations arrived in Washington. The White House announced the delegation would not be received by the president. Attorney General Daugherty said the party would receive every consideration and attention.

Sheriff Harvey Returns From Alabama Court Case

Sheriff Harvey came back Friday from Clinton Alabama where he testified as a state witness in the case against two young men arrested last August for possessing a Buick car owned by Dr J E Gower of Clanton. Kilgore was convicted while Giles’s trial was postponed after Harvey’s deposition. Kilgore testified the owner paid the pair to take the car to collect theft insurance. The report was widely believed.

Stock Sold for 6000 by Albany Man in Bankruptcy Sale

The S. L. Sills bankrupt stock of shoes and men's furnishings was sold by H. O. Jones receiver at public auction to P Fein gold of Albany for 6000 cash. The sale includes stock fixtures notes and accounts and the total inventory was 16000 at war prices. The sale was confirmed by the referee in bankruptcy in Albany. Fred Sills retains the lease and plans to reopen in the same location under his own name.

1.28 Inch Rain Falls In Time To Save Crops

A bounteous rain totaling 1.28 inches fell Friday afternoon and night benefiting growing crops while slightly delaying the oats and other grain harvests. A temperature drop to 48 degrees accompanied the rainfall as reported by J. M. and local U. S. weather observers.

URGE FOREIGNERS INTO PEKING AS CANNONS BOOM

Fighting south of the Peking Tientsin railway continued at noon on a twelve mile front near Machang. Foreign legations advised their nationals outside Peking to hurry to the capital for safety. They warned Beijing may face bombardment or air raids if the conflict between Chang Tso Lin's troops and General W Pei Fu's forces escalates, noting past penalties against China.

28 GREEKS HELD IN TRIPLE KILLING

Beardstown Illinois April 29 A flood crisis gave way to a violent street clash as 28 Greek section hands were rounded up for the Lashbrook jail killing of a deputy and a second officer. One unidentified Greek was shot and killed during early morning arrests.

Swimming Pool Pump and Equipment Delivered

The bond commission ordered pump and equipment for the Playground well at the swimming pool arrived today. J Ralston Cargill announced installation starts Monday morning. The 150000 gallons per day pump supports current and future pool needs, the pool capacity is 180000 gallons. The well tests at least 35000 gallons daily. near pump capacity only sun changes would be needed.

Faculty and students of the Second District A. and M. school in Tifton celebrate after learning the Aggies scored 261 1/2 points to win the state A. and M. schools track meet, seven points ahead of the runner up. The team has a history of strong showings in this event.
