Forces under Hale Move on Calumpit in Philippines

Otis Reports RTS to Calumpit and Casualties

General Otis dispatches say Hale and McArthur moved near Calumpit and invested the town after driving back the enemy. Wheaton’s brigade held the left while the center column prepared to join from jorzagaray. Reports note 6 killed 12 wounded and continuing operations despite bad roads and rain.

Fatal Benzine Explosion Kills Two in Denver Works

Two men died and several others injured in a benzine blast at Ficer's chemical works near Twenty fourth and Callow Hill streets. A large area was damaged with many windows shattered. a dozen or more residents and workers were hurt or missing, and the factory and nearby buildings suffered extensive wreckage. Additionally Pioneer John Albert has died at his home in Walsenburg after a long western life starting in Maryland.
