Robbery attempt on Kansas Pacific train at Wallace

Black forger Middleton gaslights locals for banked funds

Frank Middleton, described as very black and angular, wearing a stove pipe hat, was arrested in Americas on forgery charges. He posed as a loan agent for a soap association and preyed on credulous neighbors, forging two orders for $2 each to a colored woman Hopkins and Bob Howard. Police found blank checks on him and suspect he targeted banked African Americans.
