Atlanta Adjourning Betterments Commission and Lease Letter

The betterments commission in Atlanta adjourned session until Tuesday. Attorneys for the lessees attempted to withdraw into evidence President Joseph E. Brown's 1871 letter claiming lease costs would come from the lessees, not the state, for half a million dollars to shape the road. Judge Anderson opposed withdrawal, but the commission ruled it should not be permitted.
