Mary Magdalene and companions visit the tomb, find the stone removed, and are told Jesus has risen. A young man in white directs them to share the news with the disciples, who some doubt while others go forth to proclaim the gospel to all creation.
A Kiwanis ladies night at the Windsor Hotel featured a staged radio stunt using a telephone set and hidden coils to mimic a wireless broadcast. Prizes included four live Easter rabbits and performances by Melva Clark Susan Stallings and Carroll Clark. Guests included Rotary and Lions leaders praising cross club cooperation and plans to invite Georgia county commissioners’ convention to Americus.
Due to a sharp telegraph business rise at Americus the Postal Telegraph company adds an operator. Manager Sam Williamson, now at Athens, reports strong overall business growth for unclear reasons. The uptick seems driven by returning traveling salesmen entering South Georgia after a hiatus.
Dr. John Casey a veterinarian on the staff of Dr. Peter Bahnsen state veterinarian who has been in town on business left Friday night for Waycross after several days of work here with Bahnsen and associates in this region.
Savannah was chosen for the proposed state owned terminal and docks by the port and harbor commissions after Mayor Murray Stewart met the consulting engineer’s conditions. Brunswick and St. Marys also competed for the terminal site.
Flood waters from the Mississippi inundate about 75,000 acres in the Cairo area as higher ground becomes refuge. The Grand Tower levee breach today floods 5,000 acres of cropland and water depths reach eleven feet in spots. Families relocate to safer ground.
Memphis city bulletin reports an extended Mississippi river flood due to heavy Ohio valley rains in the past 24 hours. The Weather Bureau predicts no significant fall in the region before early May, indicating a prolonged high-water period.
Cordele April 15 Presiding Elder A W Rees of the Cordele district has been chosen president of Emory Academy at Oxford. He will assume duties June 1 and a successor will be named later. Formerly pastor at Moultrie he also led Sparks Institute for eight years and is regarded as a leading Methodist educator in the South Georgia Conference. The Cordele district laments his departure.
Q. L. Fry of Atlanta arrives to lead singing at Central Baptist church evangelistic meetings starting Sunday. Fry has led gospel chorus work in Georgia and is praised by Baptist leaders in Americus. New song books will be used with traditional and new songs. Dr. F. H. Farrington of Moultrie arrives Monday for first service at 4 p.m. Pastor H. L. Brookshire urges attendance as meetings span two weeks with 4 and 7:45 p.m. services daily.
Plains, April 15. A 5 o'clock Easter service will be held in the downtown grove. Ministers Rev. Jason Shirah Rev. J. E. O'Quinn Rev. Charles Phillips and Rev. M. R. Wingard will take part. Hymns and prayers planned. public invited.
Thalean High won against Thompson High on Friday afternoon on Thalean diamond by 33 to 7. The game highlighted Thalean’s hard hitting as key to the score. The fastest selling curb market since its establishment drew farmers with a wide supply of vegetables and products. Buyers were early, and most farmers were sold out and gone within an hour after opening.

Crestview Farm near Americus operated by Berry and Sullivan sold 45 head of pure blood Duroc hogs this week for shipment to South Carolina for breeding purposes. An agent for buyers, including a banker, selected the stock to be sold to South Carolina farmers to improve their market hogs.
C M Hall, formerly of the Times-Recorder, now organizer for Lions International, reports Savannah Lions Club organization progressing with prospects of at least 1000 members. Meanwhile a Bardstown distillery fire destroyed 720 barrels of whisky, with $250,000 damage. nearby Tom Moore distillery faced threat.
The sophomore class of the Third District A and M school will entertain the entire school with a barbecue tonight. The event is part of a series of social activities leading up to commencement.
Montezuma April 15. Saturday morning a mule on Marshall Bros. peach farm one mile north of town on the Marshallville road kicked over a bee gum and was instantly attacked by bees. It was so severely stung that death resulted that night.
Easter programs at First Methodist and First Baptist in Americus feature cantatas Immortality by R M Stults and The Greatest Love by Petrie. Noted soloists and choirs from local churches perform with orchestral accompaniment, inviting public attendance at morning and evening services.

The First Church of Christ Scientist at 125 Forrest Street offers Sunday services at 11 o clock with the doctrine of Atonement, Sunday school at noon, and a Wednesday night testimonial meeting at 8. Reading rooms operate daily 10 am to 12. Visitors are welcome to read authorized Christian Science literature.
Sun day School session begins at 9 45 with a special program urged for all members. Morning worship at 11 features an Easter cantata and a gospel song. Pastor L A Harrell preaches, then gives a short closing talk. Evening program at 6 30 Epworth Leagues present, with further plans at 7 30.
The House agreed to vote late this afternoon on the amendment to the papal bill for an enlisted force of 86 000 men. Members faced a conflict between 86 000 and 67 000 as the Senate might react. Debate stretched for hours with no compromise in sight as the ballot nears.
In Valdosta on April 15 a Shriner committee plans the Shriners Day parade for April 26. They vow secrecy but promise a notable spectacle with stunts and at least 4,000 attendees. The town will be festive with decorations for the event.

Cordele will begin a voluntary lighting rate reduction on May 1 after the Georgia Railroad Commission enacted the cut on April 11. The new rate for Cordele light users is 12 1 2 cents per kilowatt hour, a two cent reduction though locals say it remains higher than desired, with larger users seeing power costs as low as four cents.
Atlanta April 15 Mrs E L Little age 25 of Lewner Ga died after leaping from the third story window of a local hospital this morning. She was believed to be suffering from acute mania linked to pellagra and was under hospital care.
Clifford Thorne, general counsel for the American Farm Bureau Federation, announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senator from Iowa and simultaneously resigned from the Farm Bureau.

Albany April 19 One of the largest fresh water fishes seen in Albany was a 21 pound rock fish exhibited by C C Brooks who caught it in Nodaway creek in Baker county It took 25 minutes to land the fish and the exhibition drew attention from locals.
