An advertisement promotes Synur oy Fras a laxative tonic from the California Fig Syrup Co claiming easing of colds headaches fevers and constipation. It stresses a gentle effect on kidneys liver and bowels without irritation and notes imitation warning and that the product is sold by all druggists for a set price.
An 1881 era advertisement lists kentucky bourbons and ryes including Belle of Macon Old Oscar Pepper and Sweet Panay. It promotes wines and brandies by the case or bottle and offers mail orders with prompt attention and price lists.
In Canton Ohio on April 14 the trial of Mrs George for the murder of James D Saxton entered day two with further cross examination aimed at showing witness coaching. Mary Nauman and Nettie McAllister testified to threats and violent statements by Mrs George while Jobe L Jackson the janitor testified she threatened Saxton to settle or lose his life. Coler & Co of New York and clients hold main stakes. appeal moves to the Richmond Va circuit court of appeals with 13 000 dollars in Wilkes treasurer’s funds. Kerr Artige Salisbury ex assistant postmaster general named receiver. ruling could affect other North Carolina municipal bonds.
Attorney General Jeff Davis files lawsuits against Pacific Express Waters Pierce American Tobacco Cotton Oil Southern Cotton Oil Wells Fargo Express and Southern Express for alleged trust violations. Each suit carries 5000 dollars. other actions target annual affidavits by corporations doing business in Arkansas. Separately in Milwaukee, the Jefferson Club hosts a banquet honoring William J. Bryan with a keynote on silver and imperial policy.
