Two Gas Rate Cuts Ordered by Georgia Railroad Commission

The Georgia railroad commission ordered rate reviews for gas utilities and issued rules nisi to all gas companies. It granted 15 cent reductions per 1000 cubic feet in Savannah and Valdosta, lowering Savannah from 1.60 to 1.60 and Valdosta from 1.90, with further decisions expected on Americus and others, effective May 1.

Stolen roadster found stranded at Buena Vista

The Times-Recorder reports Ford roadster stolen from Lee Street Friday night was found yesterday by N. E. Parker of Buena Vista stranded in front of his home Sunday morning. The license tag was inside the car, one tire damaged, and the vehicle had run out of oil.

Washington April 13 The administration tariff bill in the senate was denounced by Senator Simmons North Carolina as the most Unamerican bill ever framed He said it is the highest tariff bill ever written and too unsuited to current conditions for world trade He will lead the minority in fighting the measure in the senate.

Cotton consumption rises in March despite spindle drop

Washington April 18 The census bureau reports March consumption at 562,627 bales, about 46 000 bales more than February while total spindles operated fell by about two million. An increase of 34 000 bales occurred in cotton growing states, the highest monthly consumption there since early 1917.

San Francisco reports Roscoe Fatty Arbuckle acquitted of manslaughter in the Virginia Rappe death after three trials. Trio punished after Schley lynching trial verdict

Benny DeVane Henry Harvey and Henry Fulford each received 104 years in prison or combined sentences after being convicted of shooting at a man in a Schley Superior Court case tied to the lynching of Wil Jones and the subsequent mob violence. They were sentenced by Judge Littlejohn and freed on $5,000 bonds pending a motion for a new trial.
