Greenville Mississippi reports Sejas Landing levee breach with a 10 foot crest and 1000 foot crevasse. Bolivar and Yazoo delta areas flood, affecting plantations and livestock. Vicksburg and Natchez describe worsening conditions with multiple breaks. President signs $250,000 flood relief.

General Hernandez Velasco’s column fought near Cabazadas in Rio Hondo with about 100 insurgents led by General Russ Rivera. Rivera, his chief of staff Colonel Bacallao, and adjutant Lieutenant Terry were captured. Rivera and Terry wounded, Terry dying en route to jail. One Spanish trooper killed, 24 wounded. ten insurgents slain, arms and dynamite seized. Rivera’s capture elevates Antonio Maceo in leadership. later Rivera, Bacallao, and Terry taken to San Cristobal where Terry died.
