Baker Hotel to Host Amarillo in Dallas for Gridiron Title

Baker Hotel will be Amarillo’s Dallas headquarters next Saturday for the state high school championship game between the Golden Sandstorms and the Greenville Lions. Hayden Hudson of Baker wired Amarillo an invitation, and local officials accepted. Amarillo fans traveling to Dallas will gather at the Baker, where Hudson says they’ll feel at home.

Causeway contract set by commission in Austin

The Highway Commission awarded a $1,675,027 contract to the Austin Bridge Company of Dallas for substructure superstructure and approaches to the Galveston causeway. The award awaits Public Works Administration approval which will provide 45 percent of the original 1.5 million dollar estimate. The commission asked the state engineer to seek a 45 percent grant for the overruns totaling about 400 thousand dollars.
