Five Thousand Dollar Gem Heist Crashes in Dallas
Diamonds and jewelry valued at about 5000 dollars were stolen Tuesday night from Mrs Ella Burch at 2414 Hayden Street. The break in spanned a chiseled window and a missing diamond ring hidden in an eye glass case. Neighbors reported a bright house but no disturbance as police searched for clues. Earlier, two other gem thefts totaling nearly 5000 dollars occurred Sunday night with a pawn shop tip aiding recovery of a 250 dollar diamond bar pin.

Federal agents investigate the Fritch post office burglary in which payroll checks were taken. Part of the Chicago issued Texhoma Gas Company checks was recovered in Amarillo by a hotel maid, who found them hidden in a room. Serial numbers 4523 to 4591 and 4593 to 4597, totaling 74 checks, possibly worth up to $5,000, were nearly all recovered. One check was reportedly cashed by an Amarillo business firm.
