Nazis Silent on Fate Of Two Americans
Washington reports the German foreign office has no information on the raider Tamesis or the fate of Americans Francis J. Vicovari and Ned Laughinghouse, wounded when the Zamzam was shelled and sunk in the South Atlantic on April 17. Vicovari, a New Yorker, co led a group bound for Britain to drive ambulances in the Near East, while Laughinghouse, from Wilson, North Carolina, was a tobacco worker. The absence of clues for more than five months raises fears the Tamesis may have sunk with them aboard.
