Perryton volunteer firefighter J C Reagan 24 died four hours after receiving an electric shock while fighting a blaze at the Shearer Produce Company. Two other firefighters were slightly burned rescuing him as the plant was destroyed. Reagan was a World War veteran. ABROCINE F'TeRR Dallas report follows with a separate death of cotton broker Scott N Thompson shot twice in his home.
A notice from Captain A Roberts of the Christian Army Rescue Mission invites families to work picking cotton in counties south and east of Amarillo. The mission office is at 203 South Buchanan Street and contact by phone 8767.
Resolutions detailing appropriations for a full-time Amarillo health unit were sent to the state health department per a request from Dr. J. C. Anfison. After the funds resolutions arrive, personnel decisions will be considered. Dr. Anderson praised Amarillo and Potter for public health interest and called Northwest Texas an ideal location for a model unit, with Amarillo the logical site. He noted the unit would be the first in the area.
Clara Bow breaks silence to dispute claims she stopped payment on checks totaling about 13 900 after a gambling loss at a Tahoe hotel. She says she signed blank checks for 50 cent chips converted to 100 chip values under guidance of Will Rogers at a dinner with Rex Bell and Miss Devoe. Bow asserts she later notified her bank not to honor the checks after learning of the alleged debt.
District court session opens with OPEN ASSAULT TRIAL TODAY as Farm Board members meet with Chicago Board of Trade officials. Montgomery and Bailey face charges including assault and burglary linked to a January 5 incident at a local dance hall. Prosecution relies on circumstantial evidence while alibis and the basement shooting are contested.

C B Hankins Plainview car penter minister was arrested in Levelland after an anonymous call to his wife. He disappeared August 20 after traveling toward Amarillo. A stained unaddressed letter claimed a body was hidden. investigators doubt the note. Hankins is a Wayland College alumnus and had recently sought work in Dalhart. He was turned over to Levelland officers and no charges have been filed.
A free terrapin race show directed by B W Broadus of Hobbes New Mexico will take place Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings at the Tri State Exposition. A 70 foot circle north of the Merchants Building will host thousands watching 1000 terrapins race for chalkline prizes. Entry is 2 dollars per racer with large cash rewards for the top three finishers.
Miss Belle Cochran secretary of the Louisville Rotary Club and hotel office manager leaped from the Brown Hotel fifteenth floor in Louisville. Her body fell onto Fourth Street near streetcar tracks after she left a note indicating the act was by her own hand.

Amarillo police reported two thefts Thursday at the Tri State fair grounds. Both thefts involved motor cars and property stolen from Dalhart residents. The report notes the loot in each case was a purse.
About 125 Shamrock residents arrived in Amarillo by Rock Island train for a parade denouncing Gov. Dan Moody during the Tri-State Fair dispute over a Sunday circus show. The procession featured riders clowns and Rangers while banners attacked the governor and invited support for the Shamrock cause.
A. L. Moore was arrested by the sheriff's department for driving while intoxicated and was released on bond of 1600. The grand jury indicted Moore Wednesday at noon.
The Dallas Chamber of Commerce petitions the Interstate Commerce Commission to intervene for Texas & Pacific Northern Railway in building 335 miles from Big Spring to Amarillo. The plan spans Amarillo, Lubbock, Lamesa, Brownfield, Levelland, Littlefield, Dimmitt, Hereford and Vega. Bateman of Dallas, VP of Texan & Pacific, is due in Amarillo Friday for talks with chamber officials on North Plains extensions.
Frank B Kellogg former American secretary of state and eleven others including two Latin Americans were elected to the world court by the League of Nations assembly and council. The fifteenth seat saw a runoff among Francisco Jose Urrutia Miguel Cruchaga Tocornal and Aka Hammarskjold with Urrutia winning the assembly vote and Cruchaga favored by the council. Latin America gains three seats with the latest choice.
Grover Cleveland Alexander former big league pitcher appeared before a Grand Island police judge on liquor related charges following a collision with Mrs Roy Brown's car. He faced intoxication reckless driving speeding transportation of liquor possession of liquor fleeing the scene and failing to stop. Officer M G Martin chased for six miles before arrest after Alexander refused to pay for damages and drove away.
