Panhandle Merchants Spotlight Progress at State Fair
At the Merchants Building the 1947 exhibits outshine all others with home appliances and automotive displays. The Perma Stone exterior renovation frames a sprawling show featuring Philips Petroleum and Mayfield displays, Northwest Texas Hospital nursing booth, Radio KFDA, and dozens of local firms showcasing products from grain to furniture. Neon sign makers, meat judging boards, and Farmall Cub tractors highlight a day of busy booths and crowds.

Colorful Dahlia Highlights at Tri-State Floral Show
The Floral Show in the Automobile Building at the Tri-State Fair featured a small but bright exhibit. Dahlias were the standout, while few entries reduced judging. Mrs. J A Kendall notes disappointment at low dahlia class submissions. Mrs. W S Harrison praised high quality plants. The fair hasn’t been held in years, and organizers expect better turnout next year.
