New Directory Of Amarillo Shows Growth

The 1930 Amarillo city directory released Monday estimates population at about 49,380, up 8 percent from 45,632. It tallies 9,876 families with 4,250 home owners and 3,157 renters, noting apartments and duplexes house 863 and 1,263 families respectively.

Four men were burned to death when a fire tore through the Carl J. Weber Manufacturing plant in Toledo Ohio caused by the explosion of a liquor still. District Fire Chief Richard Lawler reported the blaze today as investigators worked to determine the cause and casualties.
