Jeanette Harter, former teller at San Angelo National Bank, pleaded guilty to embezzling 5369. She was sentenced by Judge James C. Wilson in federal court to one year and a day in a women’s institution in West Virginia. Three counts were in the indictment. the first carried the sentence, the other two were suspended. Harter said she worked 12 years at the bank and described financial strain due to her husband's illness and an attempted home purchase. The judge noted no mitigation beyond her gender. A free conference committee in Austin recommends a compromise cotton bill to cut 1932 acreage to 30 percent of this year’s cultivated area. The body of 38 year old butcher Elo Summerlate was discovered in his home in Shiner Texas. His throat had been cut in what authorities term a suspected homicide. No arrests reported as investigation begins.
