About 8,500 veterans are projected to enroll in West Texas colleges, lifting regional VA enrollments by at least 25 percent from last spring. Officials advise timely enrollment certifications and prompt updates to avoid subsistence payment delays through November.
C. S. Charley Lambie was elected moderator of the Presbytery of Amarillo, a six month term. He is the first layman in about ten years to hold the post, with a long record in the Presbyterian Church including 18 years as an elder. Delegates Odell and Lambie will attend the Synod of Texas in Dallas October 14 to 16.
Ralph Andis of 1302 Broadmoor remains in critical condition at Northwest Texas Hospital after a major operation on Wednesday. He moved to Amarillo from Clarendon four years ago and serves as district representative for Leeway Motor Freight Company, headquartered here.
The Amarillo Philharmonic Orchestra reservation board will stay open until 1 AM on Saturday at the Southwestern Public Service Company located at Fifth and Polk. Reservations may also be made by calling Mrs. C. M. Holt at telephone 6201.

Funeral services for Mrs. G. F. Robertson, 61, will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow in N. S. Griggs & Sons Chapel. Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. She died yesterday at the family home 1301 North East Fourth, Amarillo, after 17 years in the city. Survivors include husband five sons and seven daughters, plus two brothers and two sisters.
Billy Crawford, nine, Amarillo, rode 40 miles in a car with a broken wrist after an gym accident. He was taken by friends to the Boys Ranch superintendent Hank Decker who applied traction and transported him to Northwest Texas Hospital for treatment.
X ray pictures showed Billy’s wrist broken. It was set last night and today he returned to Boys Ranch where he will begin school next Monday with 74 other boys.
