Funeral services for Will F. Baird 76 pioneer Panhandle cowman will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Canyon First Christian Church with Rev. Weems Dykes officiating. Burial follows at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon under Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors. Baird born February 5, 1872 in Van Zandt County moved to New Mexico as a boy and later worked as a cowboy for J. Mill Ranch, once driving about 2000 cattle from Penasco to the J. Mill Ranch near Roswell.

Two Boys Nabbed in Car Thefts
Two 16 year old boys were arrested in Tulsa and transferred to FBI custody for car theft investigations spanning Oklahoma and Texas. Police say the pair confessed to stealing at least three cars in towns east of here, including a 1948 Prazer in McLean and a Plymouth in Tulsa. A purse snatching in Tulsa led to their arrest in the 309 block on Harrison.

One Killed In Crash Near Borger
A car plunged 585 feet after midnight on Electric City Hill 3 miles north of Borger, killing Henry Floyd Swatsel 28 and injuring three others. Junior Fisher 23 and Clayton Christie 38, both Borger residents, were treated for injuries. Emory Mayfield 36 of Phillich Branch was released after minor injuries. Swatsel died Friday morning. Christie suffered multiple facial injuries and possible internal injuries. The driver, Emory Mayfield, was treated and released.
