A transient man James A. O'Dell age 38 from Wichita Kansas lost his left arm when a Santa Fe freight train moved in Amarillo yards last night. He was in critical condition at St. Anthony's Hospital with his arm mangled above the elbow and amputated at the shoulder this morning. He stated prior work in Oklahoma before arriving in Amarillo and had no known relatives.
Helen Keller after a major abdominal operation at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota was reported resting comfortably and in satisfactory condition. The surgery was performed late yesterday by Mayo surgeons and Keller is recovering under hospital care with no further details given.
