Seven Die in Gary Train Collision At Grade Crossing

Seven people were killed and another injured likely fatally when a westbound Grand Trunk freight struck their automobile at a Gary area grade crossing. The deceased include D. Pollock 59 of Milbourn Missouri and Retta Mainord 30 of Matthews Missouri with a baby girl four months old, Mrs Anna Jones 27, Fred Jones 20 months, and Howard Smith 48 of Wearborn Michigan. Borger Readies Special Borger Day at Amarillo Exposition

Borger plans a large March to the Vri-State exposition on Borger Day September 24 with about 1500 students and hundreds of citizens. The Borger Chamber of Commerce official says the schools close and trucks will transport attendees to the fair. Father says boy kidnapped kidnappers demand ransom

Chicago AP reports Frank Ranieri, a sewer contractor, notified police that his 10-year-old son was kidnapped and held for 60000. He said the kidnapers warned the boy would be killed if the ransom is not paid by Saturday. Police had been informed a week earlier the boy was missing. Ranieri feared for the other six children.
