Jack T. Webb a 43 year old Amarillo businessman was found dead in the rear of the Allison and Webb tire shop at Second and Fillmore. A .32 caliber pistol with an empty shell was found under his body after a gunshot. Notes to his wife and to business associate Ray Allison indicate his illness and lack of hope for recovery. Funeral plans not yet made.

In a murder trial in criminal district court Lon Higgins faces jurors over the death of H. L. Shores last June. The defense centers on the triangle involving Higgins, his wife Mrs Higgins and Shores with testimony about threats and relations. Higgins testified he began carrying a gun after separation and sought to reconcile with his wife the night of the shooting.
Amarillo community mobilizes around the Greathouse family as 3 year old Thomas William Greathouse dies of paralysis. Donations flow to The Globe office for funeral costs. Blackburn's Funeral Home and local donors cover expenses while others provide clothing and services. The child is in a San Antonio sanitarium awaiting funeral and the mother is in weak health.
Amarillo organizers urge all stores and offices to close as the city braces for rain impacting a Tri-State Fair event. Officials forecast better weather for the rest of the week and expect crowds to rise with Amarillo leading attendance efforts tomorrow afternoon.
At the fair tonight Ernie Young and a troupe of 80 to 100 young women perform a revue in front of the grand stand at 7. Dave Derdin leads a ten piece orchestra for a band concert. Midway rides and all exhibits are open and gates close at midnight. Motorcycle races are slated for Wednesday afternoon followed by the historical pageant in front of the grand stand and the Young revue.
Officials anticipate a record turnout as crowds descend for a holiday heavy program. Twenty five thousand Amarillo admissions are expected with automobile races, a government airplane exhibition, Ernie Young's Revue, and a big evening crowd.
Tomorrow pageant grand stand tickets cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for children. Car occupants may park inside the track in a single semi circular row with no extra charge, paying the same grand stand rate. A parade will move from Polk street to the grounds led by Groom Boys band. grounds were muddy this morning and crowds gathered.

Rev E C Seaman bishop of the Amarillo diocese says suspicions about Mr Bailey are unfounded after returning from Enid Oklahoma where he counsels the church in Oklahoma pending Bishop Casady’s consecration. The Enid case involves death of Rev Charles Bailey’s wife and his 18 year old daughter and a jailed nurse Mary Atkinson amid poison theories.
Formal murder charges were filed in Panhandle justice court against Madge M. Salmon after officers said she signed a written confession admitting she shot her husband John Salmon and then wounded herself with the same gun. Her alleged statements describe years of abuse and a planned attempt to kill herself.
The Khiva Chanters quartet toured Lions Kiwanis and Amarillo Real Estate board luncheons delivering musical bits. Members Albert Brown Joe M Reed Rollin White and James Bowen performed to enthusiastic crowds. Accompanist Mrs Brown assisted before next week Minstrel and Musical revue dates.
