The Dixon Creek Oil company, controlled by Amarillo interests, begins spudding a well in Section 14 Black Y Hutchinson county on the H. K. Smith ranch. The three members of the army world flight squadron rest at Bolling Field in Washington with a two day layover as the Defense Day tests approach. A Brick Nelson landed unannounced at Bolling from New York via Halethorne to avoid delays, inspecting the ship and piloting it in. The First National Bank of Canyon was sold to a group led by Charles O. Keiser and associates after 26 years under L. T. Lester. The buyers, including J. W. Reid Oscar Hunt and others, claim the bank will be among the strongest in West Texas under new ownership.
Prominent Dallas attorney Paul M. O'Day was shot and killed as he entered a bank building. Four shots from a shotgun fired. William Lester Crawford was arrested. Crawford reportedly claimed the victim threatened his mother. The case notes Crawford as son of the noted Texas criminal lawyer Colonel Crawford.
