British Captain Breaks World Speed Record in Seaplane

In Calshot England Squadron Leader A H Orlebar captain of the British Schneider cup team set a world speed record of 855 miles per hour in a blue and silver seaplane over a three kilometer course on Southampton Water. His four dash average 355.8 mph surpassed Saturday’s holder R L B R Atcherley, while Flight Lieutenant G H W Stainforth also beat Atcherley with 366.3 mph.

J T Robison longtime general commissioner lay in state today in the Texas Senate chamber after requests from friends led to the bier’s move to the capitol. Governor Moody ordered state departments closed during the viewing before a 5 p m funeral at a Dallas SMU pastor’s service. Burial will be beside son and daughter’s graves after last night’s reception at his home south of Austin.

Army fliers postpone derby events at municipal field

Inclement weather forced postponement of several air derby events. Army fliers competed before departure from Municipal Field yesterday morning. Additional trophy awards were announced by the committee. Robert Duell won 25 dollars for stunt flying and Lowell Yerex took first in night stunting. Westmoreland trophy went to the army fliers from Kelley Field.

Naval arms propaganda probe ordered by Senate committee

The Senate naval committee voted for an investigation into activities by American shipbuilding corporations linked to international naval limitation conferences. Quash One Count Against Grain Dealers
