Book claims four flying saucers landed in the United States

New York reports Frank Scully, famed show business columnist, released Behind the Flying Saucers claiming four saucers landed nationwide with crews of little men. He cites a magnetic scientist under the pseudonym Dr Gee, linking to Silas M. Newton and George T Koehler, who were unavailable. The publisher calls the book timely and exciting though none have seen a saucer.

Red drive toward Taegu peters out amid supply limits

US Eighth Army said the Red offensive against Taegu, main Allied base on the central front, has “petered out” due to shortages. Reds reached within seven miles of Taegu before US First Cavalry and South Koreans stalled them. Generals warned of possible new offensives elsewhere as buildup grows around Pusan and Masan.

Attorneys Wrangle as Case Hears the Jury

The trial of a 22 year old man for the March 18 fatal shooting of his wife at the Little Inn Cafe continued with lengthy cross examination by Assistant District Attorney Branch T. Archer Jr. Mason’s lawyer E. T. Miller objected to many questions and remarks by Judge Henry Bishop. Mason described moments of blacking out during the shooting and claimed his wife had hinted at leaving. He said he later did not remember handling the gun and admitted uncertainty about his mental state.

Galveston Police Seek Missing 14 Year Old Helen Porth

Galveston police search for Helen Marie Porth a 14 year old girl from Dallas reported missing since September 1. The father E C Porth said she disappeared from a beach front tourist court the night of September 1. She is five feet three inches tall weighs 120 pounds with brown hair blue eyes and plastic rim glasses.

Prison inmate admits 10 year old death murder charge

In Carrizozo New Mexico a prison inmate confession led to murder charges against him and a Texas druggist in the death of a man long believed a suicide. Glen Thornton said he was part of a plan with Leon Todd of Mineral Wells to kill the victim and stage suicide. Sheriff Ortiz of Lincoln County noted the slaying is now under investigation and moved the case to page 21.

Unidentified man found dead near Amarillo oil plant

An unidentified man, aged 65 to 78 and about 5 ft 7 in, was found deceased on a dirt road near the Amarillo Cotton Oil Company plant between Grand and Rock Island tracks. Justice of the Peace ruled natural causes. Police fingerprinting sought identity. body held at Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home.

Amarillo Records Narrow Rain Totals Across Panhandle

Early morning rainfall varied from a trace in Clayton to .15 inch in downtown Amarillo and .05 inch at the air field. Dalhart reports fog, Amarillo forecasts call for partly cloudy skies and cooler temps, with highs around 75. Yearly Air Terminal rainfall stands at 19.92 inches, 4.99 inches above normal.

Cugat Loser in Alimony Dispute

Xavier Cugat must continue alimony payments of 2000 dollars a month. Superior court rejected a bid to set aside the order, ruling the bandleader was properly served in Lorraine Allen's separate maintenance suit. Allen accuses him of avoiding legal process while touring.
