New Traffic Code Goes Into Effect In Amarillo
The new Uniform Traffic Code becomes educational at first as officers teach drivers the rules. Polk Ivy, Amarillo highway patrol captain, says the code aims to reduce carnage by enforcing safety measures such as stopping after accidents, yielding, signaling, and correct parking. Violations carry fines up to 200 dollars, with harsher penalties for injuries, deaths, or dangerous driving, while inspections may be required at any time.
