The judge came to Austin presumably for the Democratic convention after his clothing was found at Lake Austin dam and divers searched below.
E A Berry newly elected chairman of the state Democratic executive committee said the committee will not meet within ten days and may meet near month end to nominate candidates for railroad commissioner and state treasurer. The first meeting was said to be in Houston but no definite date was fixed.
Danville Indiana September 4 Glenn Young former Williamson county raider faces trial in U S district court on five indictments charging impersonation of a government officer these having been returned by the federal grand jury which made its report today to Judge Walter C Lindley.
Washington September 4 The Brownwood North and South Railway applied to the interstate commerce commission for authority to abandon its line from Brownwood Junction to Ma. Tex 17.5 miles The road has never paid its operating expenses since November 1911 according to the filing.
The first crude oil pumped into the Pan-Tex line began its journey from the Plains well to Amarillo this morning. About 1 000 barrels compose the initial consignment, with 8 000 barrels required to fill the line. Dorset Carter, builder of the carrier, cited pending Pan-Tex and Amarillo Refinery negotiations as likely to finalize today. Mr. Allen, owner of the refinery, is in Amarillo.

Only remaining tasks are collecting $15,783 owed from bonds and finishing structures except for merchants and style show and administration buildings. Officials say the giant fair is nearly ready and collection efforts will occur this week.
The Amarillo Rotary Club voted 97 to 0 to enlist in national defense activities on December 12 as part of Uncle Sam's mobilization test. Charles Keffer led a noon luncheon program on Defense Day with three speakers addressing ethics in business and remarks on Amarillo as a potential site for a cotton oil mill.
Herrin Illinois September 4 John H Smith owner of a local garage was charged by the coroner s jury with shooting Chester Reid last Saturday noon in a deadly affray in which five others were killed The jury urged holding over to the grand jury and a warrant for murder was issued by Coroner William McCowan and handed to Deputy Sheriff George Walker for service
In Waco on September 4, Mrs Gladys Willis filed suit for 100000 against Texas Power and Light Co over the death of her husband Joe S Willis on April 6. Willis, a prominent local businessman, was killed when a gas leak ignited after he struck a match to light a cigar, destroying his business premises.
Raoul Gunsbourg, composer and Monte Carlo opera director, dueled with Russian Colonel Bezobrazoff near Varaville. Gunsbourg wounded his opponent with swords after overhearing a slighting remark in a Dives cafe. The duel followed a quarrel over comments about a princely family of a nearby French state. they left without shaking hands.
The Amarillo Tri-State exposition hosts a Third Battle of the Marne sham battle on American Legion day September 27. Texas National Guard infantry and artillery units, motorcyclists, aircraft, and bomb explosions will reenact World War I scenes as locals from Clarendon Canyon and Hereford join the encamped forces. Thousands are expected to attend Panhandle events honoring veterans.

Four killed and two injured in a late night crash on a river bridge near Navasota as a Houston Temple party returning home from Temple crashes after striking a loose board. Victims include Mrs Harry T Kendall 38 and her daughter Susanne 2 halves, Miss Pearl Embry 35 of Temple and Mrs George C Pendleton ? died later. Pendleton and Bobbie Kendall injured. Kendall had driven ahead hoping to meet his wife. Pendleton sister of Mrs W Blackburn.
Scores of Panhandle DeMolay members travel to Amarillo for the fall ceremonial starting at 4 PM at Shrine headquarters. Initiation at 6 PM in the Municipal auditorium followed by the fall ceremonial ball at Palo Duro hotel from 9 PM to 1 AM. Sixty two novices from Amarillo and the Panhandle will be initiated.

A grand jury returned two forgery indictments late yesterday. Defendants L. H. O Banion and Wayne Smith are jailed in Potter County awaiting proceedings.
