Boy’s Leg Broken When Car Hits Him

Roger Dendy six year old son of Mr and Mrs W H Dendy of the River Road community suffered a broken left leg today when struck by an automobile on Highway 5 near his home. He was taken to St Anthony’s Hospital. The accident was reported by R A Teague of Amarillo who said he was driving toward Amarillo when the boy dashed across the highway. Teague stopped rendered aid and went to the hospital.

Pilots Clash Over “Dynamite” Planes in Bendix Race

In Los Angeles on September 2, pilots protested entry rules for tomorrow’s Bendix trophy dash to Cleveland worth 20,000 dollars. Race chairman Larry Therkelsen called a pre-race meeting at 10 pm amid jealousy over high powered machines, saying no ban on planes was anticipated. A later note states car imports into Germany last year totaled 2,179 with 1,354 from Italy and 245 from the United States.

Salt Lake City dispatch says weary search parties hunt for Henry W. Pearson a 28 year old air corps mechanic missing since leaving a Coast Guard station near the Great Salt Lake. They patrol above around and on the lake hoping for a sighting.

Drug raid suspects arraigned as federal narcotics case grows

Ernest E. Williams among those charged in a narcotics drag net. Williams is ill and has not been arraigned. S. T. Couch was arraigned with bond set at 1000. Federal agent says at least seven of nine have criminal records. list cites multiple burglary and armed robbery sentences. Doyle Meeks and Earl Blair also face narcotics charges. none have posted bond except Hawkins.

Kiwanians Hold Picnic Tonight at Jack Hall Ranch

Kiwanis members from the San Jacinto Club and Kiwani Anns plan the first annual summer picnic at 6 o clock tonight at the Jack Hall ranch north of Amarillo.
