Paris reports William Randolph Hearst was served with an official expulsion demand and complied. The Surete Generale called on him at his hotel and he left for London. Officials say France expels foreigners hostile to the nation and Hearst is deemed Franco-phobic, with criticism to be aired outside France.
The three orphaned children of A D Payne spent the day at their uncle Sid Payne’s home near Tulsa after their father’s burial in a local cemetery. They hope to remain together, though their future remains uncertain.
R L Conder Jr, cellmate and confidant of A D Payne, says Payne killed himself after learning his son A D Payne Jr forgave him for attempting to kill him. The son reportedly told his father he forgave him and sent a peach as a sign of love.
The two girls LaDell and Bobbie Jean intend to comfort each other and share their burdens while awaiting a decision. They plan to live together, most likely at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Payne, with guidance from their Uncle Sid.
The Norwegain expedition led by Dr Gunnar Horn found the Andree party remains on White Island east of Spitzbergen after an arduous journey across ice. The crew reportedly died of exhaustion and were found in graves of ice and snow as winter approached.
Captain Alton S. Parker, Byrd South Pole expedition test pilot, will be honored at a banquet in Amarillo tonight. The ceremony, in the Rose Room of the Amarillo Hotel, is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce with aviation enthusiasts attending. Parker will be advanced to colonel in the Mississippi National Guard aviation division and will head to Dallas tomorrow after a reception at English Field.
Four nations enter the 19th Gordon Fennett Balloon race in Cleveland drifting northeast toward the Atlantic after launch. Early reports suggest a long 600 to 800 mile race with possible paths to Labrador coast or Maine as brisk southwest winds shape the contest. The winner is the longest distance covered from the start.
Fred Eberhardt publisher Henry Halseman and George Rawls faced a preliminary hearing before Justice J. C. Madison in Jacksonville. The court freed them after finding insufficient evidence of a plot to assassinate Governor Doyle E. Carlton of Florida.

Josh Lee, chair of the University of Oklahoma oral history branch and veteran, told 2,000 American Legionnaires at the Texas state convention that future wars will be fought in laboratories with germs and electricity. He warned against complacent optimism and urged striking at war’s sources rather than relying on conferences or goodwill.
One man died and three others faced murder or assault charges after a roadside gun battle six miles north of Austin. Bryan Keshey of Dallas was killed. Charles Beland of Fort Worth was wounded, and Joe Beland Mrs Helen Keahey and Earl Adams were jailed on murder counts. Adams claimed a corpse in his car near the University airport.

Nominated Tuesday morning by Judge I EB Randolph, Kiwanis International district No 6 lieutenant governor nominee is Ki B Miller of Plainview. Miller unopposed for the post, with election on the convention floor. The Texas-Oklahoma division also named officers as Lubbock hosts praise for a record district gathering.

Reports from Boston late Sept 2 state that Great Wane Island Maine coast station logged a sighting of the French aviators Dieudonne Coste and Maurice Bellonte en route from Paris to New York. They reportedly crossed into Canadian maritime provinces and reached Nova Scotia near Canso, completing the long transatlantic era flight.
Diew donne Caste and Maurice Bellonte completed a westward flight from Europe to North America, landing near Cape Canseau and then Nova Scotia coast. By noon they were believed near Halifax and expected to reach New York later that day, achieving a feat long pursued since Nungesser and Coli.
A Canadian crew from Scotia completed the first direct flight from Europe to North America, passing by Halifax harbor and aiming toward Weight Field on Long Island. The route echoed Lindbergh’s flight by looping around Newfoundland and approaching North American airspace near Saint Pierre and Miquelon.
