AL Owners Summoned in O'Connor-Chandler Case
American League owners were summoned to a Cleveland meeting by President Will Harridge to decide action in the dispute between Commissioner A B Chandler and Leslie M O Connor, suspended White Sox general manager. O Connor said he will fight the case alone, asserting no rule violation. Chandler cited a “direct defiance” and said the suspensions would stand. Clark Griffith backed Chandler. Washington Senators will support him. Zoeterman, 17, was signed by the White Sox for 1948 and as batting practice pitcher for 1947, with Harridge approving.
