Earl Yocum of Galva Illinois, unharmed after a three day disappearance, refused to reveal ransom amount or many specifics. He said he was blindfolded most of the time and dropped near Atkinson in Henry County after being held in unknown custody.

Big Spring to attend rally for Texas & Pacific line

A telegram to Mayor Col. Ernest O. Thompson from Garland Woodward announces a large Big Spring turnout for a Friday noon rally at the Hotel Herring crystal ballroom. Delegations from towns along the 333 mile Tex as & Pacific route to Vega Lubbock and Amarillo will attend with J. L. Lancaster and other railroad officials. An ICC hearing on permission to build the line is set for December in Plainview and Lubbock.

Dyer Damage Suit to Jury

The $45 000 damage suit of J C Dyer against the Santa Fe railway was turned over to the jury after closing arguments at 12 10. Dyer says he was thrown against a wheel brake atop a box car in 1928 causing hemorrhages two days later. The railway argues the hemorrhages came from a pre existing stomach ulcer. The case began Friday and may be the last on the August civil docket as Judge W E Gee planned to finish today and start a new term Monday.

Moody Backs Cotton Acreage Reduction Conference in Dallas

Gov. Dan Moody joined a coalition calling for a Dallas conference to discuss reducing cotton acreage. Attendees will include bankers farmers business leaders and government officials though details were not disclosed.

Road Conditions From Amarillo To Major Towns

Eight miners found dead in Wheatley No. 4 mine blast

Fort Worth and Denver City railway seeks train consolidation

The Colorado-based Fort Worth and Denver City railway seeks to consolidate trains 4 and 7 northbound and 8 and 6 southbound between Amarillo and Dallas. If approved, trains would be discontinued and replaced by new schedules with northbound leaving Dallas 8:30 p.m. and arriving Amarillo 8:55 a.m., and southbound leaving Amarillo 8:15 p.m. and arriving Dallas 8:10 a.m. The hearing is set by the state railroad commission for November in Fort Worth.

Woman loses death appeal in 1927 murder case

Clyde Laker, 22, convicted of murdering her husband Charlie Baker in Jones County, loses a second appeal as the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upholds the trial court. The state proved the poison was mailed with a note supposedly from his mother. Baker died minutes after ingestion on May 23, 1927.

Kills Offic ers Ends Own Life In Cameron
