A telegram to Mayor Col. Ernest O. Thompson from Garland Woodward announces a large Big Spring turnout for a Friday noon rally at the Hotel Herring crystal ballroom. Delegations from towns along the 333 mile Tex as & Pacific route to Vega Lubbock and Amarillo will attend with J. L. Lancaster and other railroad officials. An ICC hearing on permission to build the line is set for December in Plainview and Lubbock.

Chief W R McDowell urged parents to stop the damage as special officers will patrol until after Halloween. Dr and Mrs R Thomson left for Roanoke to be with their son Carl who is seriously ill after a major operation.
Hollywood figures Ralph Ince Henry Clive and Oliver Price fought with Los Angeles press members at the Los Angeles Newspapermen's Club after being asked to leave. Price was hospitalized with head lacerations while Ince and Clive refused care. Rex Lease hosted. no arrests were made as writers declined to prosecute.

The $45 000 damage suit of J C Dyer against the Santa Fe railway was turned over to the jury after closing arguments at 12 10. Dyer says he was thrown against a wheel brake atop a box car in 1928 causing hemorrhages two days later. The railway argues the hemorrhages came from a pre existing stomach ulcer. The case began Friday and may be the last on the August civil docket as Judge W E Gee planned to finish today and start a new term Monday.
Gov. Dan Moody joined a coalition calling for a Dallas conference to discuss reducing cotton acreage. Attendees will include bankers farmers business leaders and government officials though details were not disclosed.
Road conditions show all routes from Amarillo to Fort Worth via Wichita Falls and to Oklahoma City via US 66 are good. Routes to Roswell Tucumcari Higgins Clayton Borger Lubbock and the oilfield highway are all paved or in good condition.

Rescue teams at Wheatley No. 4 mine in M A LeytE Oklahoma recovered eight corpses on the sixteenth level with work continuing to reach the eighteen and surface. Initial counts show 30 men entombed with surface reports incomplete and no identifications made.
The Colorado-based Fort Worth and Denver City railway seeks to consolidate trains 4 and 7 northbound and 8 and 6 southbound between Amarillo and Dallas. If approved, trains would be discontinued and replaced by new schedules with northbound leaving Dallas 8:30 p.m. and arriving Amarillo 8:55 a.m., and southbound leaving Amarillo 8:15 p.m. and arriving Dallas 8:10 a.m. The hearing is set by the state railroad commission for November in Fort Worth.
B F Bennett Borger chamber of commerce manager and a committee of oil field businessmen travel to Amarillo to discuss routing of the Oil Field highway with local chamber officials. They will meet Thursday at 11. Routing through Hutchinson county remains undecided as the road nears Potter county and aims to reach Stinnett.

Clyde Laker, 22, convicted of murdering her husband Charlie Baker in Jones County, loses a second appeal as the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upholds the trial court. The state proved the poison was mailed with a note supposedly from his mother. Baker died minutes after ingestion on May 23, 1927.

Reagan Brady killed railroad special officer Ed Dunman 47, shot deputy sheriff Guy Pope 80, and wounded Deputy Ray Robinson in Cameron Texas. Brady then fatally shot himself at his store and home after the incident. Local police and ambulance responded to the Santa Fe robbery inquiry.

Out of town patrons may mail checks to Wilbur C Hawk president of the Tri-State Fair at the News Globe office. reservations are processed in order received. Miss Garden's recital still has fine seats available but will sell out later in the week.

War office report cites 86 Japanese dead after Japanese punitive expedition fights through Musha to subdue Aborigines. Among the dead are 23 women and 21 boys. 150 more feared lost, 31 refugees reported safe. Forces exceed 1000 with six planes and mountain artillery joining.
