Hen Golding tax collector of Potter County was operated on late this afternoon for appendicitis at Northwest Texas Hospital after a two day illness. His appendix was burnt and a dangerous condition had set in. The operation was performed by Dr B M Puck A and Dr KR M Walker.
The OCR shows a cold forecast with slight warming, dated a year ago. Temperatures range from near freezing to the mid 40s, with mention of fair conditions tonight and on Thursday. Specific hourly readings are unclear but include early morning around 18 to 25 degrees and a high near 40.

Fort Worth AP reports President Lindsey Blayney of the College of Industrial Art at Denton offered resignation with permission to remain a reasonable time. Regents consider acceptence. Faculty who had opposed Blayney would not be forced to resign.
Lieut. James H. Doolittle, U S Army, completes a two day record chase at Bashore Park Baltimore with a speed trial of 245.715 mph over three kilometers. He also retains the Jacques Schneider trophy after setting three new records in the race in the same aircraft.
City commission schedules December 21 vote on raising tax limit to $1.80 and extending city limits to include most platted districts such as San Jacinto and University Heights. Bids to be sought for San Jacinto fire station. six inch sewer tile contracted. Traffic amendments discussed.
An early morning blaze in Wewoka Oklahoma destroyed ten business buildings including Patterson Dry Goods and the American Hotel and Cafe. The Patterson building and the hotel were among the largest in the city, with about six dozen guests forced into the cold night as fire crews battled the flames. Three men fought the blaze with help from crews from Holdenville and Shawnee. The fire started in the Patterson building basement from an undetermined cause, and losses are estimated at 500000 dollars.
A delegation of eastern bankers and investors toured Amarillo and West Texas, praising Panhandle development and declaring Amarillo a place for safe investments. D A Belden and J N Riggs led remarks, with Col George Carter and Lawrence White sharing high expectations for growth and collaboration with West Texas.
Mrs. Charles FE Paull of 401 Lincoln street is dying after contracting sleeping sickness at the North West Texas hospital. She has been in a deep sleep for eleven days with little nourishment and no speech. Doctors warn the fatal disease is noncontagious yet highly feared when epidemic.

In Chicago a divorce hearing shows Mrs. Anna Hunt accusing her husband William H Hunt, a wealthy auto and radio dealer, of infatuation with a blind girl who supposedly urged a divorce. The two children aged 13 and 6 testified to cruelty as the court indicated the decree would be granted.
A frigid wave pushed temperatures to 20 degrees in Amarillo and 28 by 11 am, with a 15 degree record last seen in 1917. Auto radiator shops buzzed as cars froze, streets emptied, and farmers prepared as the cold front moved south from the Rockies. The forecasts predict continued cold across the Southwest and East with more snow likely in the Mississippi Valley region tonight.
The Guaranty State Building and Loan Association plans to open an Amarillo office within days led by vice-president W C Hamilton. A local loan unit with a board of advisors including Amarillo men and a local attorney will manage finances through area banks. President Coolidge lauded South American statesmanship as a model for peace while accepting a monument to Gen. Jose de San Martin from Argentina. He called San Martin Latin America’s George Washington and praised peaceful international relations in the region over the past century.
The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J D Burks died yesterday in a local hospital. Services were held at Griggs chapel and burial was in Llano cemetery. Mr Burks is a Rock Island conductor. family residence is 311 North Buchanan Street. Mrs Burks is confined at St Anthony's sanitarium.
