Plains counties push bonds for cheaper paving plan

Plans were advanced across Panhandle counties to call bond elections for paved highways. Delegations from more counties prepared to meet Amarillo highway officials to study a cheaper caliche base penetration top system. Judge W. R. East Texas oil production cut to 150 barrels daily

Houston and Austin reports state Brig. Gen. Jacob Wolters ordered East Texas oil fields limited to 150 barrels per day to keep output under 400000 barrels daily. The rule takes effect at 7 AM Thursday with 302550 barrels allowed from 2617 wells, though some wells are inactive. The measure follows a federal court ruling and Ster ling governor order.

Military Rites For Grid Star At West Point

Cadet Richard B. Sheridan, killed in the Army Yale football clash, will be buried with full military honors at West Point. The funeral is set for Wednesday at 4 PM on the Hudson bluffs, with cadets in army blue, a chapel service, and burial in the academy yard near famed past generals. Mrs. Sheridan recovered enough to approve the plan after visiting her injured son. Sheridan died from a broken neck suffered during the 6 to 6 tie at Yale Bowl.

Night car thieves strike in Amarillo

Motor thieves took two cars in Amarillo on Monday night. Col. Erasmus Tack owned a Graham Paige sedan and B. F. Veale a Oakland coupe. Police issued an emergency broadcast via WDAG at 8 o clock with descriptions.

First winter warning chills western residents

Trial of Deal Gas Suit Is Under Way

AUSTIN Oct 27 Trial of the suit of T M Deal Oil and Gas Company of Amarillo against the Texas Railroad Commission was started in the 98th district court. Deal seeks cancellation of a commission order prohibiting gas production by oil wells from a non oil strata. The commission contends gas from non oil stratas is reserved for domestic or commercial use.

Supreme Court declines to take Robertson County truck case

The Texas Supreme Court declined jurisdiction in the Robertson County motor truck dispute and remanded to the Court of Civil Appeals at Waco for reference. Sheriff V C Box sought a writ of prohibition against District Judge H F Kirby over injunctions on the state permit rule for for hire water trucks. The action was dismissed without prejudice as attorneys prepare to present to Waco.

Hereford Cattleman Is Claimed by Death

Hereford Texas rancher W. Murray 58 died after an extended illness in Mineral Wells. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 PM in Plainview with Rev. E P Geiser of Hereford Presbyterian Church conducting. Murray is survived by his wife and several brothers and sisters in Indiana.

Lumber Company Office Burglarized Ninth Time

Barfield Lumber Company at 3101 Pierce Street was burglarized Monday night for the ninth time in a year. Thieves forced the door, damaged a safe and took about $10 in cash, with total loss around $30. Police and investigators logged fingerprints after a camera was used to document the scene.

Officers Trial Set for Nov 19

A second trial in the slaying of Emilio Cortes Rubio and Manuel Garcia Gomez is scheduled for November 19 in Ardmore Oklahoma. Former deputy sheriffs William Guess and Cecil Crosby will be tried before District Judge Asa Walden. Guess previously acquitted of Cortes Rubio’s death but not yet tried for the other slaying.
