Directors to Convene in Amarillo Annual AAUW Meet

Fourteen of nineteen Texas AAUW branches will send delegates to Amarillo for the third annual state convention opening at 9 a.m. at the Herring Hotel. Delegates from Ft Worth Austin Waco Georgetown Dallas Commerce Denton El Paso San Antonio and Wichita Falls join guests from Lubbock Canyon and Pampa with plans for programs and social events finalized. Steering gear break causes fatal injury in Pecos

In Pecos Texas on October 24 a car crash killed J T Sadler 60 of Temple when steering gear broke and the vehicle overturned. Sadler and his brother in law a Dr Carver of Los Angeles were in the car. Carver was badly cut by glass.

White freed on bond after Corsicana shooting indictment

Bell White was released on a $3,000 bond after being indicted yesterday for the shooting of Andy Autrey a cement contractor. The shooting occurred several weeks ago in Corsicana.

Checks Continue To Come In for Fair Debt Fund

Checks arrive for the Tri State Fair debt fund as citizens donate toward the 15 000 goal. L A Wells sent 100 and yesterday 600 from other supporters raised total pledges to 9 835 leaving under 6 000 to raise. Mail contributions are encouraged to save solicitors time. Armistice Day activities are planned in Amarillo with Governor Moody set to proclaim Monday as a holiday.

Amarillo airport heads to Detroit for expert talks

John Cowan and Albert Randall with city engineer H. B. Jones travel to Detroit to confer with Ford airplane factory experts on airport plans. They will visit neighboring fields and report back to the Amarillo Airport Commission. Groundwork progresses while building plans await contracts after reviewing government and industry input. They expect to return early next week.

Goebel Stops Here Again En Route to Hawaii

Art Goebel winner of the Dole race to Hawaii landed at Amarillo Airport Corp field shortly after 1 pm aboard the Woolaroc on a hop from Los Angeles to Bartlesville. He has paused in Amarillo many times on east west flights and resumed the trip after refueling. Mr and Mrs Lane of Clayton were visitors, and Mrs Atwood left for Houston to visit her daughter for a month.

Yankee Doodle Reported Over Albuquerque Flight

Monoplane Yankee Doodle bound for San Francisco crossed near Amarillo reports say but was not heard or seen by Amarillo Airport staff. Capt Collyer and Harry Tucker aboard passed Albuquerque at 9 10 a m MT on schedule for a transcontinental non stop run according to United Press.

Youth Injured In Motorcycle Collision At Tenth And Arthur

Raymond Ford, 17, a Globe News carrier and son of Quincy Ford, sustained a fractured skull and minor injuries after his motorcycle collided with a car at the Tenth and Arthur corner. He was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital by Griggs ambulance. Witnesses described a pass near the intersection. details of the crash remain unclear.

Kidnapped Officer Witnesses Holdup On Line of Duty

State Patrolman Robert Troup reported being kidnapped along the Lincoln highway east of Lancaster and forced to witness a holdup of another car. He was left unharmed outside Baltimore, his revolver taken, after officers pursued a vehicle carrying two men and a woman without licenses.
