Charles Arthur Pretty Boy Floyd lay on an undertaker slab in East Liverpool Ohio after a decade of crime. He bore four bullets in his back, the marks of Kansas City Union Station attack, as the law caught up with the notorious public enemy.
An 8 year old boy Burl Barley was killed when a car struck him at Sixth Avenue and North McMasters Street as he walked to Summitt School. Two men, J R Riggs and Clyde Sanders, were arrested later in the afternoon on hit and run charges as the sheriff prepared murder complaints.
Charles Pretty Boy Floyd fell to a federal and city raid on an isolated farm seven miles north of East Liverpool Ohio. An autopsy found four bullets. Floyd was attempting to flee when officers stormed the hideout. His mother requested his body be sent to Sallisaw Oklahoma for burial. The U.S. agent Melvin Purvis led the pursuit with three Justice agents and four East Liverpool police.
Mrs Frances Robinson wife of the fugitive kidnapper of Mrs Alice Speed Stoll pleaded not guilty at arraignment before Federal Judge Charles I Dawson. Her trial was tentatively set for October 29 and location Louisville Kentucky.

James V Pottinger a longtime Amarillo resident and early settler died last night. He arrived in 1887 from Kentucky with his wife and infant to claim prairie land in Potter County. The Pottingers built a dugout home near the Brady school site and began farming, becoming prominent local pioneers through hard work.
The Texas House refused Senate amendments to a delinquent tax relief bill, sending it to conference. The Senate proposed optional remission by subdivisions and a February 1 limit, while the House would require universal remission and an October 30, 1936 deadline, sparking sharp opposition.
Sir Charles Kingsford Smith plans to resume his 7260 mile Brisbane to Oakland flight tomorrow at noon weather permitting. The famed Australian pilot had paused in Suva Fiji after an earlier leg of the journey.

A crowd of over 40,000 including Henry Ford witnessed the takeoff.
West Plains Missouri on October 23 1934 Rufus E Edwards a Thayer real estate man confessed to hiring Luck Braden of Thayer to kill his 27 year old stepson Oscar Bushart last July State patrolman Nathan Massie said Braden also confessed to killing Albert Johnson an iron molder near Mt Vernon Indiana three years earlier and Clinton Bruce Claibourne of Calico Rock Arkansas Massie added Edwards and Braden had served terms together in Arkansas penitentiary with Edwards receiving a life sentence a $4000 life insurance policy named Mrs Edwards as beneficiary was said to have motivated the crime and fear for Mrs Edwards life prompted her to provide information on her husband crimes.
The American Legion held its annual parade in Miami Florida on October 23. Thousands of uniformed Legionnaires joined a pageant of bands drill teams and drum and bugle corps. Gov Dave Sheller proclaimed a holiday for the event. The parade route was the shortest in Legion history at about two miles.
London dispatch says Japan plans to denounce the Washington naval treaty, citing the 5 5 3 ratio among United States Britain and Japan. Ambassador Tsueno Matsudaira conveyed the decision to Britain at the opening of naval conversations here.
In Dallas on October 23, surgeons planned to remove a 184-pound tumor from Sophie Johnson's abdomen. The operation may take several days and a sudden removal could be fatal. Johnson weighs 354 pounds and doctors said she has a fair chance to survive.
The List triennial Protestant Episcopal convention in Atlantic City pledged an unremitting war on war. After three sessions by deputies and bishops, the closing service concluded the meeting and affirmed that war cannot be a method to settle international disputes.
The weatherman forecasts only slightly cooler temperatures for tomorrow with fair conditions and no moisture in sight for the Panhandle. Early today the low dipped to 50 degrees as rains fell across much of the nation.
In Waxahachie Texas on October 23 the defense pressed for a continuance as the trial of C B Yarbrough of Belton proceeded on charges of murder connected to the fatal burning of his foster daughter Doris. Law president of the American Bankers Association told the convention that bankers will cooperate with President Roosevelt in a permanent recovery program based on liberal sound business doctrines and rational humanitarianism. He praised constructive principles over political criticism and said business sees the administration recognizing individual initiative and fair profit.
Bruno Hauptmann will be arraigned in Flemington New Jersey on a first degree murder indictment in the Lindbergh baby case and will plead not guilty. Justice Thomas W. Trenchard will preside and set trial dates. Hauptmann returns to Hunterdon County jail and asks to see his infant son.
Capt E N Stanley chief engineer of the Texas Railroad Commission says he would recommend shutting the East Texas oil field if crude prices drop to allow federal and state plans to align. He notes uncertain views of commission members and cites a new federal tender board to curb hot oil. The tender committee meets Thursday in Dallas with the state tender board to coordinate actions.

A Panhandle group arrived in Austin to press the Senate for funds to mark regional historic sites and to stage at least one pre Centennial event. They argue the Texas Centennial should benefit the entire Panhandle and its heritage.
The city of Amarillo gains 95855 dollars from a Federal Reserve Bank Dallas PWA loan for waterworks. City work on the system will start between November 1 and 5 with hiring through the National Reemployment Agency at 408 Fast Fifth Avenue.
