Lon A. Smith 78 a longtime Texas political figure died in Lawrence Kansas after a heart attack. He served 16 years on the Texas Railroad Commission and earlier as state comptroller from 1921 to 1925 and in the State Senate. He chaired the Railroad Commission in 1933 34 and 1939 40. He led local offices in Rusk County and was active in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He had 11 children.
Burglars entered Harry Hollands Men’s Store through a skylight on Saturday night and loaded about $1,100 in clothing into three suitcases.
