Aubrey B. Dempsey 26 a boilermaker died after a violent wind storm struck a Sunray residence hurling it 100 yards. He was pulled from the wreckage with neck and jaw broken and died en route to Borger. L Bagsby jumped from a window as the house was hit. Another Sunray building was wrecked as rains continued across the Panhandle. A special grand jury was convened later to probe the shooting death of Victor Smith near Canadian.

In Fort Worth Texas a crazed negro killer is pursued by 350 possemen after two attacks on white men in 24 hours. Floyd F. Culton, 35, dairyman, was shot in the head. David L. Reed, 60, farmer, was killed with the suspect’s stolen gun. Sixteen negroes questioned. two white youths also arrested. Culton hospitalized with shots to the face.
Two men hid inside the Farmers' State Bank of Yale before opening time and robbed the bank of 4570.82 dollars. They fled in a stolen automobile. Police investigated the early morning crime and searched for suspects.
Los Angeles police quizzed Winnie Ruth Judd as the Phoenix trunk murders suspect after a woman matching her description boarded an east bound plane from Los Angeles to Amarillo. Authorities checked death messages letters and photographs to identify the traveler and pursued leads to Laguna Beach and Chicago.
The nation observes a night of darkness as Thomas A Edison is buried near his workshop in Llewellyn Park. His body was moved from the library to the Edison home for a quiet ceremony with no eulogy.
New York reports a nation wide homage to Thomas A Edison at 9 58 pm Eastern Standard Time on NBC and CBS networks. Listeners will switch off lights from 10 to 10 01 pm as a silent tribute. About $26,000 raised so far with 20 firms requesting materials and pledge cards to boost contributions. Radio broadcasts on WDAG at 4 PM and KGRS at 6 PM promote the campaign led by Rev. Roy Snodgrass and 20 Legion teams canvassing door to door.

Hastings Neb Oct 21 A district court jury heard the case of Velma Creighton mother of two charged as an accessory to the 27000 Hastings National Bank robbery last February Her husband James Creighton is on death row in Missouri for a Webb City slaying Officers say he helped in the Hastings caper with James Thomas and another unidentified man Thomas was later convicted and sentenced to 25 years Mrs Creighton denied knowledge of the robbery and said her husband spoke little about his business Police found a large sum of money on her at arrest with claims it was part of the loot Thomas said he gave her the funds to send to his Texas wife from profits of liquor sales.
Cleburne Texas October 21 Mrs Roy Derby 28 was indicted for the murder of her former husband Mack Horn 37 a city fireman Horn was shot September 26 on the streets while said to be following his ex wife Derby had been held on a 5000 bond awaiting the grand jury action.
In Mexico City on October 21 Russell T. Sherwood personal accountant to New York Mayor Walker refused to accept a subpoena served at the Ritz Hotel calling him to testify before a New York municipal investigation committee. Two process servers delivered the document during his honeymoon stay.
Western star Tom Mix will arrive in Amarillo by Santa Fe at 6 10 p m for supper tonight, with a special car carrying his horses led by Tony. He is signed for lead roles in future talkie horse operas and will stay about half an hour before continuing westward at 6 40 p m.
Bridge washout yesterday halted paving on Highway No. 5 twelve miles north of Amarillo as crews faced an ongoing price dispute between truck owners and contractors. Potter County truckers demand one dollar per load for seven miles of sand roads, while contractors had offered ninety-one cents. A 30 minute halt on Highway 66 east of Amarillo was resolved with a 45 cent minimum after talks led by C. F. Smith. A meeting of Amarillo Truck Owners Association members is planned tonight at the Chevrolet Company salesroom.
