Culpepper Sentenced for Clothing Theft

J R Culpepper pleaded guilty before County Judge J N Riggs to misdemeanor theft and was fined 25 dollars plus court costs and ordered to one day in jail. He was arrested on a county attorney complaint for stealing two suits of clothes and a sample case of cutlery from Fritz Struges.

Mead Urges Community Chest Support at Amarillo Lunch

John F. Mead president of Amarillo College urged the Community Chest drive as essential to address human needs. He said government alone feeds only subsistence and local action builds responsible citizens to prevent drift toward a less personal form of government. The American Business Club discussed library zoo and fair grounds issues and heard a report on transferring them to city control. The 700 committee led by Stuart Johnson will consult with realtors for a solution. Fred De Coster chaired the entertainment portion.

Potter County Grand Jury Selected and Dated

The new Potter County grand jury for the November term has been selected and the list sealed for delivery to the district clerk. Jury commission members are I O Willson L J Creekmore and Joe Killough. The present term jury headed by Cal Parley ends this week as the 47th District Court under Judge E Nelson and District Attorney Bob Underwood prepares to open in Claude next week.
