WPA League Opens Emergency Drive

The Citizens Labor League says Amarillo churches clubs and civic groups will be asked to donate to an emergency food drive for families of unemployed WPA workers. More Money for Hospital Sought

Amarillo Woman's Textbook Adopted By School Board

The State Board of Education adopted a new integrated social studies textbook for fourth grade, titled First Families of America, written by Annie L. McDonald, Amarillo Elementary Schools supervisor. The six year adoption covers two units on Indian history and the Westward Ho movement, with illustrations by Elizabeth Rice and published by the Stock Company of Austin.

Amarillo Livestock Sales Sets New Record

The Amarillo Livestock Sales Company recorded a new sales record yesterday with more than 40000 dollars from 1500 cattle. Co manager Bill Hill and co owner Jack Coulter reported that Portland Oregon was the farthest destination for checks with cattle consigned from New Mexico Arizona and numerous Texas locations.
