Still Manufacturer Freed of Charges
Thomas Seagreaves, charged with possession and sale of a still, was freed after his attorneys argued he had a right to sell the contrivance as a grocer sells yeast and malt. The state contended the copper device was intended for illicit liquor production. Seagreaves, a sheet metal worker, admitted making the apparatus from specifications provided by a federal prohibition officer.
