Laura Titus, 70, confessed to fatally striking James Titus, 78, with an axe in Summit New Jersey. She alleged years of abuse and heavy drinking by him. The confession follows police questioning after the incident.

E G Rice of 309 North Johnson Street sustained a minor wound from a stray shotgun pellet while walking with Charles Adams around a lake seven miles east of Amarillo. A physician in the hunting group extracted the shot from Rice's face and authorities urged safer crossing of lakes.
Amarillo hosts a goodwill motorcade including Rotary American Legion Lions Kiwanis State Parks Board and Highway Department on November 6 with Palo Duro Canyon inspection on November 7. Lieutenant Governor Barry Miller of Dallas acted as Texas governor while Governor Moody hunted in the Sierra Madre. Moody entered Mexico at six a.m. for a hunting expedition, marking the third time Miller has served as chief executive.

A 16 year old boy from Burnside Connecticut left home last September and wired his parents for money. Police acted quickly and detained him, transporting him to await return home after detectives traced the telegram and found him near the telegraph office.
W J Rain W E Oliver and W A Newlin filed a $16 000 suit against RE R Biggs alleging breach of contract for failing to honor a $15 000 commission on land sale. They claim Biggs traded 11 638 gas company shares at $1, and cash, but did not own the stock, losing a land option and commissions worth $15 000.
Harrison F. Quitt, a Fort Bliss soldier, was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity after killing his wife Irene with an ax at the army post on September 3. The jury deliberated 1 hour 86 minutes after a 12 hour trial.
Arthur L. Fauble a Shawnee wholesale merchant remained jailed in Tecumseh as police probed mysterious threatening letters sent to prominent Shawnee businessmen. After a four hour interrogation by County Attorney Randall Pitman Fauble described an alleged kidnapping in Kansas and claimed a gang forced him to buy a typewriter used to compose the threats.
